What Are the Characteristics of aluminium alloy 6061?
aluminium alloy 6061 is a precipitation-hardened aluminum alloy, containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. Originally called "Alloy 61S",.IT is most known for its extreme durability, workability, machinability and toughness under extreme conditions like extreme atmosphere differences and seawater. It has good mechanical properties, exhibits good weldability, and is very commonly extruded (second in popularity only to 6063).
It is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general-purpose use. This makes it extremely resistant to corrosion. It’s also quite popular for its versatility when it comes to workability. Because it is a wrought alloy and not a casting alloy, it can be rolled, forged or extruded into a variety of shapes like aluminium round bar, aluminium square bar, rectangular bar, aluminium sheet or aluminium plate
